  4.     There was almost no warning last week before a giant C-130
  5. transport plane of the Kentucky Air National Guard plummeted
  6. into a restaurant and motel in Evansville, Ind., and then
  7. exploded in a giant fireball. Sixteen people were killed in the
  8. crash, including the five crewmen aboard the plane, two workers
  9. at JoJo's restaurant, and nine people at the adjacent Drury Inn
  10. motel, all of them employees of a plumbing-supply company, who
  11. were gathered in a fourth-floor conference room.

  13.     Authorities had no explanation for the crash, which
  14. occurred while the crew was practicing a maneuver called "low
  15. approach," in which the plane would fly close to but not touch
  16. the airstrip of nearby Evansville Regional Airport. Soon after
  17. takeoff, the plane went into a nose dive. William Capodagli was
  18. in a seminar room of the motel when the plane hit. "There was
  19. this incredible fireball bursting through our window," he says.
  20. "Where there should have been daylight was a big spinning ball
  21. of flame."
